About Rikki

Rikki Poynter is a Deaf content creator, writer, public speaker, accessibility consultant, and activist based in Omaha, Nebraska. Growing up as a mainstreamed deaf person, she had no idea about her accessibility rights, Deaf culture, and Deaf community. In 2013, after three years of making beauty videos on YouTube, she shifted gears and started talking about her life growing up and her journey into finding a Deaf identity, culture, and community. She also started talking about accessibility, primarily captions on YouTube.

Rikki hit a break in 2015 when her #NoMoreCraptions campaign took off thanks to Tyler Oakley and his YouTube video Hear Me Out. Lilly Singh soon followed suit. She received her first accessibility speaking engagement at VidCon where Google was in the back of the room.

She has since worked with major tech companies like Apple, Google, Samsung, and more. She has made both national and international news for her efforts.

When Rikki isn’t tracking down businesses and politicians to try to make things accessible, she’s at home with her cat, drinking coffee and watching horror movies.
